File extension pgm information
File extension PGM stands for Portable Gray Map and it has associations with the Portable Graymap File program. This program is the common denominator (lowest) grey scale format. The program is an 8-bit file which is also greyscale. It may consist of different shades belonging to the gray color as well as transparent pixels. The pixels are formatted in text format. In this format, numbers are tasked with representing the lightness and darkness of each pixel. Another name for the PGM files is “portable greymap” files. The file format of the PGM files is standard and they are supported by a number of programs.
